Windows 8.1 BackupRecently some one brought up a concern. They could not do a system backup as they used to be able to do with Windows 7. Microsoft basically took that option away. Instead of that, they have a different name and process for recovery discs. It is replaced with System Drive and File History replaces Backup, both of which are found in the Control Panel. Details on this are very difficult to find online. When you search for detail about Windows 8.1, Microsoft wants to give you details for Windows 7 & 10. I have always believed that backup or zip systems of any kind are not good. To simplify, backup systems are meant to be for that computer only and generally are not accessible to other computers. I always suggest that people use an external device to drag and drop or copy and paste their own content. This allows you to access your files on another device. Happy Surfing! |
